What's a cozy mystery, you ask? Think Murder, She Wrote … an amateur sleuth who solves a mystery. In most cozies, there is a close-knit community … a small town, a dinner party, a cruise ship. In cozies, even though the crime committed is usually murder, the story focuses on the whodunnit aspect, rather than the gory details of the crime itself. Because of this, even though cozies are written with an adult audience in mind, the books are often appropriate for younger readers. I recommend cozies for readers 4th grade and up, mostly based on reading comprehension rather than content, as there are no sexual situations or adult language.
I have two cozy mystery series for you to choose from!
One is the Witch of Edgehill series starring a secret witch living in a town obsessed with cats.
In the Mythical Pet Sitting series, a human visits a hidden magical town where she finds an abandoned baby dragon … things only get weirder from there!
The Witch of Edgehill is complete at 5 books (with a bonus novella!), and the Mythical Pet Sitting series is ongoing.
Welcome to Edgehill, Oregon. Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of the feline-obsessed town, gets caught up in solving crimes all while keeping her witchy gifts a secret. (They're all in audio, too!)
Reading order:
Join Deandra on her adventures in Axia as she navigates a career change, living in a new town, and becoming the guardian of an energetic baby dragon.
